Gold Tassel Denim Waistcoat

Made by me from denim offcuts, including vintage dark cotton denim bought in Peru, this piece is all about giving beautiful fabric a second life. It started as a pair of jeans, and after turning them into shorts, I couldn’t let the offcuts go — they’ve been waiting patiently ever since for their moment.

Now reworked into a structured, easy throw-on layer, it’s full of contrast, texture and a little bit of western sparkle. Pale gold tassel detailing is hand-made by me from rescued sequin fabric selvedge, carefully scored and cut into movement-filled fringing, then turned into adjustable ties under the arms so you can wear it your way.

The raw frayed edges have been stitched throughout to keep the shape, strengthen the design, and let the detail last while still keeping that beautifully undone feel. It’s the kind of piece that works however you wear it — over a simple tee for festival days, or layered over a checked shirt for a more western-inspired mood.
